HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – For the third straight season the UWF men's golf team is advancing to the NCAA Division II National Championships. The Argos punched their ticket to the final tournament after placing third in the South/Southeast Regional Championship on Saturday.
UWF had their best day of the three-day tournament posting a 283 (-5). The Argos jumped up three spots in the standings and finished -3 overall for the tournament. It is the second straight year the team has finished third in the regional tournament.
Cooper Tendick had his best round and tied for the lowest individual round of the tournament with a 66 (-6). Tendick moved up 14 places in the individual rankings during the final round and finished fourth overall with a final score of -7. On Saturday, Tendick did not post a single bogey in his round.
Fabian Wennerlof was one-under in the final round.
Eddie Lee and
Per Ekelund both shot 73 (+1) and
TJ Thompson shot 74.
West Florida will now head to the NCAA Championships in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. at the PGA National Golf Course. Tournament play begins on Monday, May 19. Teams will compete in three rounds of stroke play to try to advance to the match play portion of the tournament.
