FLORENCE, Ala. – The first race of the 2025 men's cross country season has been recorded, and the Argos finished seventh out of 14 teams competing in the men's 8K at the University of North Alabama Invitational.
The Argos finished ahead of Gulf South Conference foe Montevallo, placing five runners in the top 42 with less than a minute between the top five finishers. The top five also averaged under 27 minutes in their 8K times. The Argos finished right behind GSC foes West Alabama and Union.
"We were working on packing up and working as a team for as long as possible. One of our goals was to keep the top 5 under 27 and be competitive late in the race. Checked a lot of boxes off on this one and feel good about where we're at right now." head coach

Junior runner
Carson King led the way for the Argos, finishing 15
th out of 153 runners with a personal record of 25:53.70 in the 8K. Sophomore
Xander McLaughlin also set a personal record with a time of 26:15.62 to place 23
rd.
Grant Chastain placed 29
th with a 26:28.26 time. Newcomers
Parker Hicks and
Preston Cooper finished right behind at 26:46.55 and 26:49.02, to place 40
th and 42
nd respectively.
Up next,
Nathan Deboutez finished with a time of 27:32.62 at 70
th.
Jack Tyner set a personal record of 27:38.58 placing 74
th.
Parker Nunley finished 104
th with a time of 28:50.06.
UWF now returns home to Pensacola to host the Argonaut Invitational on Friday September 12 from the UWF Cross Country Course. The men's 8K begins at 7:30 AM CT with the women's 5K following shortly after at 8:15. Awards will be presented at 9:00 AM CT.
