PENSACOLA, Fla. – After a dominant three-game sweep over the No. 6 team in the land,
Zack Stokes was named GSC Player of the Week and
Elijah Roberts earned GSC Pitcher of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday.
Stokes powered the Argonaut offense throughout the weekend, delivering one of the most productive weekends in the conference. The junior outfielder hit .700 (7-for-10) with three home runs, nine RBIs, four runs scored, and a stolen base while slugging 1.600. He delivered multiple big moments, including a two-run homer and three RBIs in the series opener before exploding for a 3-for-3, six-RBI performance with two home runs in Sunday's 13–8 victory.
Roberts anchored the pitching staff and set the tone early in the series after a dominant start on Friday. The sophomore right-hander allowed just one hit and one unearned run across five innings, striking out seven while walking only one in a 3–2 victory. Roberts faced 18 batters and held Florida Southern scoreless through four frames, limiting the Mocs to a .063 batting average during his outing.
The Argos are back in action on Friday, February 6 where they open a three-game series with Rollins in Winter Park, Florida. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. Central Time. Live stats will be available on GoArgos.com.
