PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Gulf South Conference announced its 2026 baseball yearly awards Thursday, with West Florida placing five student-athletes on the All-GSC teams and
Zack Stokes highlighting the group as the league's Player of the Year. Stokes was also named First Team All-GSC and earned a spot on the GSC Gold Glove Team, while
Micky Scheetz and
William Lybrook joined him on the first team.
Colton Dorsey and
Jake Cooper rounded out the Argonauts' selections with second-team honors.
Stokes put together one of the top offensive seasons in the conference, starting all 48 games for the Argonauts while batting .419 with 72 hits, 59 runs scored, 18 doubles, 12 home runs and 37 RBIs. He also posted a .733 slugging percentage and .536 on-base percentage while drawing 43 walks and stealing nine bases. Defensively, Stokes was named to the GSC Gold Glove Team after recording a .992 fielding percentage with 121 putouts and just one error in the outfield.
Scheetz earned First Team All-GSC honors as a relief pitcher after leading West Florida's bullpen with a 1.13 ERA across 26 appearances. He finished the regular season with a 3-1 record and 12 saves, allowing just five earned runs over 39.2 innings while striking out 38 batters and issuing only eight walks.
Lybrook was also selected to the First Team All-GSC at catcher after starting all 48 games and batting .393 with 59 hits, 33 runs scored, eight doubles, two triples, five home runs and 30 RBIs. He added a .573 slugging percentage and .516 on-base percentage while drawing 23 walks and being hit by 16 pitches. Behind the plate, Lybrook recorded 217 putouts and 28 assists.
Dorsey represented the Argonauts on the Second Team All-GSC as a starting pitcher. He made 12 appearances with 11 starts, posting a 6-2 record and 3.54 ERA. Dorsey threw 61.0 innings and led West Florida with 70 strikeouts while holding opposing hitters to a .267 batting average.
Cooper earned Second Team All-GSC honors at second base. In 22 games and 13 starts, he hit .279 with 12 hits, one home run, 10 RBIs and a .431 on-base percentage. Cooper also drew eight walks, was hit by five pitches and helped provide depth in the infield for the Argonauts.
As a team, West Florida entered the awards announcement with a 35-13 overall record and a 21-12 mark in GSC play. The Argonauts hit .301 as a team with 452 hits, 313 runs scored, 74 doubles and 29 home runs, while the pitching staff carried a 3.99 ERA with 332 strikeouts and 15 saves.
The Argos now turn their attention to the GSC Tournament. UWF opens postseason play against the 3-seed Mississippi College Choctaws on Saturday, May 2 at 11:00 a.m. in Oxford, Alabama. Live stats and broadcast will be available on GoArgos.com.
