COLUMBUS, Ga. — West Florida secured a 5-3 victory over Columbus State University on Tuesday that earned Coach Jeffcoat his 700th win.
Columbus State took an early lead in the first inning with a solo home run and added a second run in the fifth inning.
UWF made a significant comeback in the sixth inning.
Zack Stokes initiated the rally with a single, followed by
Andrew Walton's RBI double, driving in Stokes.
William Lybrook then hit a two-run homer, scoring Walton and putting the Argonauts ahead 3-2. Columbus State tied the game in their half of the inning, bringing the score to 3-3.
The eighth inning saw West Florida retake the lead.
Peyton Martin hit a two-RBI single, bringing home
Trent Kelly and Lybrook. The Argonauts led 5-3 at the end of the eighth inning and held Columbus State scoreless in the final inning, securing the victory.

Mike Jeffcoat. "We had timely hitting and great defense, turning five double plays tonight."
Braden Rapp pitched 4 innings, allowing 6 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 2 batters and issued one walk.
Blake Thomas contributed a scoreless inning, yielding no hits while walking one batter.
Eli Lamb pitched 1.1 innings allowing one hit, while
Micky Scheetz closed the game with 2 innings, striking out one and allowing just one hit, securing his fourth win of the season.
Lybrook stood out by hitting a home run, contributing two RBIs, and scoring two runs. Stokes added to the offense with two hits, including a double, and scored one run. Walton made his mark with a double that brought in one RBI, while also scoring a run. Martin drove in two RBIs with a key hit, bolstering the team's scoring efforts.
