Sebastian Rondon was named the ITA All-South Region Senior Player of the Year, while head coach
Derrick Racine was named the ITA/Dunlop South Region Coach of the Year, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Wednesday.
Rondon has been the Argonauts' ace throughout the season, posting a 24-2 record at No. 1 singles and a 21-2 mark at No. 1 doubles alongside GSC Player of the Year
Diego Duran. Rondon, an All-GSC First Team selection, is currently ranked as the No. 1 singles player in the nation by the ITA. Together, Rondon and Duran are also ranked as the No. 1 doubles pair in the country.
Racine has continued to lead one of the nation's premier Division II programs, guiding the Argonauts through another standout season. In his 28 years at UWF, Racine has compiled a 633-140 career record, making him the winningest head coach in UWF tennis history after surpassing the legendary Ralph "Skeeter" Carson. He was also named GSC Coach of the Year for the 13th time on the men's side and has led the Argonauts to 13 GSC titles and four national championships.
West Florida will travel to Surprise, Arizona, to compete in the NCAA Division II National Championships. The Argonauts enter the tournament as the No. 2 overall seed and will look to capture the fifth national championship in program history.
