Birmingham, Ala. -- Shaneka Gordon (Old Harbour, Jamaica/Community College of Baltimore) received her first Gulf South Conference Player and deservingly enough with her tremendous play this past week. This is the second time this season that a Lady Argo has been named Player of the Week and now gives them five of the twelve awards handed out this season.
Gordon, the Junior College National Player of the Year last season, had a tremendous week. In three matches she totaled over 200 minutes played and recorded seven goals and three assists for a whopping 17 points. Against No. 5 Columbus State, Gordon tacked on two goals in the Argos impressive 5-0 shutout over the Cougars. In conference play over the weekend, she netted five goals, including a three goal and one assist outburst against Harding University.
Gordon and the Lady Argos will continue GSC play this weekend as they will host Christian Brothers University this Saturday, October 11th at 12:30 pm CT at Brosnaham Park.
