FULL RESULTS PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The University of West Florida women's golf team is tied with Armstrong State University for 10th place after the first round of the Guy Harvey Invitational hosted by Nova Southeastern. The Argos shot a 315 (+27) on the day, and finished Monday's round 13 shots behind tournament leader Seminole State.
UWF sophomore
Paloma Vaccaro (Asuncion, Paraguay/Colegio Lumen) leads the Argos at +3 through the first 18, just three shots behind Cynthia Bounleutay of Seminole State. Vaccaro has been the top finisher for West Florida in the team's first two events, claiming second-place finishes in the Ross Resorts Invitational and the NCAA Preview.
Junior
Lauren Lamm (Punta Gorda, Fla./Daytona State) sits close behind Vaccaro at +5 after shooting a first-round 77, and senior
Elin Olsson (Mantorp, Sweden/Bildningscentrum Facetten) posted an 80, good for a tie for 43rd. Junior
Fabiana Salazar (Miranda, Venezuela/McLennan CC) and freshman
Johanna Nevalainen (Olofstorp, Sweden/Universal School) scored identical 83s on the day, placing them both in a tie for 67th. Nevalainen is competing in her first tournament at UWF, while Salazar has finished in ties for 44th and 35th in her first two tournaments with West Florida.
UWF was ranked 9th in all of Division II in the most recent Golfstat relative rankings, and is one of six top 10 teams according to those rankings that is competing in this week's tournament. The Argos sit just a shot behind the University of Indianapolis, No. 1 in the Golfstat rankings, and four shots behind Barry University, which is No. 4.
