October 19, 2015 FULL RESULTS DADE CITY, Fla. – The University of West Florida women's golf team posted an 18-over par 306 to finish the first day of the Saint Leo Invitational in fourth place. The Argos, ranked No. 5 in Division II by the latest Golfstat rankings, finished just nine shots behind tournament host Saint Leo, which stands atop the leaderboard.
UWF senior
Elin Olsson (Mantorp, Sweden/Bildningscentrum Facetten) leads the Argos after 18 holes, just five shots behind tournament leader Vilde Eriksen of Saint Leo. Olsson shot a 3-over par 75, tying for seventh place in a round that was highlighted by a stretch of three birdies in four holes to open the back nine.
Paloma Vaccaro (Asuncion, Paraguay/Colegio Lumen) and
Lauren Lamm (Punta Gorda, Fla./Daytona State) each finished a shot behind Olsson with a 4-over 76. Vaccaro and Lamm each saw their individual Golfstat rankings jump in the latest polls, as Vaccaro moved up a spot to No. 2 in D2, and Lamm leapt from 65th to 30th nationally.
Juniors
Lily Kent (Bury St Edmunds, England/Thurston Community College HS) and
Fabiana Salazar (Miranda, Venezuela/McLennan CC) finished tied for 34th, each shooting a 79.
UWF has played in the Saint Leo Invitational five times with a high finish of second place coming in 2009. The Argos trail three South Region opponents, Saint Leo, Lynn and Barry, and sit five shots ahead of Flagler College in the team standings. Tournament action will conclude Tuesday morning.
