WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – The ninth-ranked West Florida women's golf team finished in fourth place in the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational at the Tuscawilla Country Club
on Tuesday.
UWF posted a final round 299 for a 54-hole total of 900. Nova Southeastern held onto its first day lead to pull away from the field with a 292 score and 885 total.
"We finished better today than yesterday afternoon," head coach
Bryan Clarke said. "The girls had a couple of tough holes but they hung in and grinded out a good score. This proves to them they can play with the best in the country after we beat (No. 1) Rollins and (No. 2) Barry this week. We are moving in the right direction and haven't peaked yet so hopefully by the end of the year we can peak at the right time."
Paloma Vaccaro and
Lauren Lamm each finished in a tie for tenth place with a 223 score. Vaccaro carded a 73 with an eagle on the 17th hole when she holed-out from 98 yards. Lamm closed her tournament with an even-par 72.
Daisy-May Kenny tied for 21st with a 74-75-78—227 total along with
Elin Olsson at 75-76-76—227.
Johanna Nevalainen shot an 80 to conclude her event with a 242 score.
UWF will compete in its third event of the spring
next Monday and
Tuesday when it travels to Hattieburg, Miss. for the Lady eagle Classic.
