Argos Return Home for Homecoming and Senior Day Matches

UWF is set to face the Lee Lady Flames and Shorter Hawks

Pensacola, Fla- Coming off a three game winning streak the Argos will look to keep the momentum going against the No.5 ranked Lee University Lady Flames for Friday's homecoming match, followed by Shorter on Sunday for senior day. The weekends matches will be the final two regular season home games for the Argos.
 
 
About West Florida: The University of West Florida Women's Soccer team has 16 goals on the season and 156 shots. The Argos average 1.78 goals per game and 17.3 shots per game. Defensively the Argos have continued to progress throughout the season limiting opponents to just seven goals and 61 shots.
 
Forward, Blair Cowan comes into Friday's match being the reigning GSC Offensive Player of the Week, after scoring two goals and getting two assists over the weekend against AUM and Montevallo. Throughout the season multiple Argos have stepped up and put the Argos ahead. Peyton Peffers and Brianna Pope have been dominant up top leading the teams attack.
 
Destiny Hammac and Destiny Hird have been tremendous winning the ball in the midfield. Defenders Hannah Wooten and Kiliegh Whited have been aggressive in the back limiting chances for the opponents to get shots off. Goalkeepers Kelsey Brann and Charline Favier have split time in the position for a combined 25 saves, allowing just six goals this season.
 
 
Scouting Lee: Coming into Friday's match Lee is 9-0 overall and 6-0 in Gulf South Conference Action, ranked fifth in the United Soccer Coaches Poll and first in the Gulf South Conference. The lady flames are averaging two goals per game and 14.6 shots per game. Lee has six shutouts this season and has limited opponents to just three goals, an average of 0.33.
 
Leading the charge for the Lady Flames is Riley Henry and Lauren Weimer. Henry has five goals, two assist and 31 shots this season. While Weimer has three shots, one assist and 11 shots. With 18 goals on the season 10 different Lady Flames have scored.
 
Goalkeeper Jackie Burns has allowed just two goals this season, picking up 21 saves after facing a total of 54 shots. Lee's defenders have been a pivotal point of the team's success limiting opponents' opportunities to take shots.
 
The series has been balanced for both teams with an overall record of 4-4-2.
 
The match is set to take place Friday, Oct.15 at 5 p.m. at the UWF Soccer Complex. The first 150 UWF students at the match will receive a free scarf.
 
 
Scouting Shorter: The Shorter Hawks are 1-8 on the season and 0-6 in Gulf South Conference action. The Hawks have six goals on the season and 40 shots. Shorter has allowed 30 goals and 166 shots.
 
Danielle Forsythe leads the team with two goals and one assist. Erin Carter, Morgan Cashen, Lindsey Shipp and Julianna Torres each have one shot this season.
 
The Argos are 8-0 against the Shorter Hawks.
 
The match against Shorter is set to take place Sunday, Oct.17 at 12:30 p.m. Sunday is senior day, before the match Hannah Wooten, Nadia Kuchambia, Peyton Peffers and Kiliegh Whited will be recognized for the contributions to the UWF Women's Soccer team.
 
Sunday's match is also the annual bark at the park, fans are encouraged to bring their furry friends to enjoy the games.
