UWF in 13th at Halfway Point of World Golf Invitational

Ronja Taipale and Kenzie Heba both turned in rounds in the 70s

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The UWF women's golf team shot an opening round 320 to open play at the World Golf Invitational on Monday.
 
The Argonauts are in 13th place following 18 holes of play on a rainy and chilly day at the Slammer & Squire Course at the World Golf Village.
 
Ronja Taipale and Kenzie Heba led the way for UWF on Monday with rounds in the 70s. Taipale had a pair of birdies on her front nine before finishing with a 78. She is tied for 41st position. Heba collected a team-best three red numbers, including on two of the four par fives to put her in a tie for 48th place with a 79.
 
Solange Gomez made 11 pars and played the par threes at 1-under – the second lowest score in the 111-player field – before signing for an 80. Alia Scotka and Alegria Lopez are both tied for 76th after shooting 83.
 
Nova Southeastern leads the field following a 2-over-par 290.
 
The final round of the 36-hole tourney will begin at 8 a.m. Eastern Time.
