Men's Golf In Third After Opening 36 Holes In Georgia

Chris Ayers is in second place, 3 shots out of the lead

EATONTON, Ga. - The 11th-ranked UWF men's golf team is in third place following the opening two rounds of play in the Bobcat Invitational on Cuscowilla at Lake Oconee.

The Argonauts were in the top three all day, shooting team scores of 281 and 282 for a 3-over-par 563 total. Top-ranked Barry is in first at 557 and Clayton State is in second at 562.

Chris Ayers and Elias Haavisto led the charge for UWF. Ayers posted a career-low 65 in the first round and is in second place at 136, three shots off the lead. Haavisto is tied for fifth at 70-69=139.

Cameron Bonner is tied for 23rd at 72-71=143, Carlos Marrero is tied for 34th at 74-71=145 and Felipe Garces is tied for 42nd at 74-72=146.

Four of the Argos improved their score from the morning to the afternoon on Monday.

UWF will be paired with Barry and Clayton State in Tuesday's final round, which will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time.
