FINAL RESULTS
Â
MOBILE, Ala. – UWF junior
Elias Haavisto shot a 68 in the final round of the Gulf South Conference Men's Golf Championship to cruise to his second-consecutive league title with a 9-under-par 207 total at the RTJ Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove Crossings Course.
Â
Haavisto made birdies at Nos. 1 and 4 to give himself a 2-shot cushion early in the round. He later birdied Nos. 6, 9 and 10 which expanded his lead to five shots as no one in the field got any closer the rest of the way.
He joins former Argonauts Chandler Blanchet (2016-17) and Orjan Larsen (1998-99) as back-to-back winners, and is the fifth player in GSC history to accomplish the feat. It is also the 15th time in 27 years of GSC membership that an Argonaut has earned medalist honors.
Â
Junior
Cameron Bonner joined Haavisto on the all-tournament team as he fired a 71 to finish tied for fifth at 2-under-par 214.
Â
Sophomore
Felipe Garces turned in a 3-under-par 69 to climb 14 spots into a tie for 13th at 219. Seniors

Chris Ayers finished their first GSC Championship at 225 and 230, respectively.
Â
In the team scoring, third-ranked Lee claimed its first GSC title with a 19-under-par 845 total. The 13th-ranked Argos weren't able to make a big run and finished in second at 293-285-285=863.
