DESTIN, Fla. - The 22nd-ranked UWF women's golf team sits in second place after two rounds of play at the Emerald Coast Classic at Baytowne Golf Club.
The Argonauts were in 13th place at 12-over-par following nine holes of play in Sunday's first round and have played the last 27 holes at 22-over-par to move into the runner-up position following Monday's play. They have shot consecutive 301 scores for a 602 total. Only fourth-ranked Henderson State at 589 has managed the par 71, 5,880-yard course better.
Leading the way for the Argos are sophomore's
Alia Scotka and
Alegria Lopez. The duo are tied for ninth at 149, 7-over-par.
Junior
Kate Kenthack rebounded from a Sunday round where she just couldn't get a rhythm to post the lowest round of the tourney for the Argos with a 2-over-par 73. She made the fourth-largest climb among the 89-player field into 30th place at 155.
Senior
Solange Gomez and sophomore
Kenzie Heba are both tied for 32nd at 156.
Sophomore Alex Seppanen and freshman
Millie Thompson are competing as individuals this week. Seppanen is tied for 50th at 159 and Thompson is tied for 66th at 164.
UWF will be paired with Henderson State and Flagler in Tuesday's final round, with the teams starting on holes 1-3 in the 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
