EATONTON, Ga. – The 17th-ranked UWF men's golf team had four rounds at par or better to help propel the squad to a second place standing after 36 holes at the Bobcat Invitational on Monday.
UWF shot a 3-under-par 277 to grab the lead after the morning round and then bounced around the top five as the wind really picked up in the afternoon. The Argonauts shot a 293 to run their total to 570 and are a stroke behind 36-hole leader No. 12 Lander. No. 6 USC Aiken is at 571, while No. 3 Georgia Southwestern and No. 1 North Georgia are tied for fourth at 572.
Sophomore
Cooper Tendick and freshman
TJ Thompson led the Argo attack on the par 70 Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee course and are each tied for sixth at 2-over-par 142.
Freshman
Per Ekelund is tied for 12th at 70-73=143. Junior
Fabian Wennerlof turned in a season-best 70 in the first round before a 77 moved him into 40t place at 147. Senior
Nicolas Rubio shaved three strokes off his opening 18 to post a 73 in the second round and move up 18 spots into 48th position.
UWF will be paired with Lander and USC Aiken in Tuesday's final round, while is scheduled to get underway at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time or until the frost/freeze delay is lifted.
