EATONTON, Ga. – The 17th-ranked UWF men's golf team finished in fourth place at the Bobcat Invitational played at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee on Tuesday.
UWF battled with the other top three teams all day for the lead but shot a 290 to finish at 860 for the tournament. No. 3 Georgia Southwestern claimed a 7-shot victory with an 851 effort. No. 1 North Georgia and No. 7 Florida Southern tied for second at 858.
Freshman
TJ Thompson led the Argos with a 4-over-par 214 in the two days. He shot a 72 on Tuesday. Classmate
Per Ekelund tied for 18th at 70-73-74=217. The duo led the Argos with 37 and 36 pars respectively.
Junior
Fabian Wennerlof used a 72 to bring his 3-round score to 219 as he tied for 29th. Sophomore
Cooper Tendick tied for 32nd with a 220, and senior
Nicolas Rubio lowered his score each round with a 72 and a 37th-place final standing.
Rubio and Tendick each had eight birdies to pace UWF over the 54 holes.
UWF will return to action in three weeks when it plays host to the Argonaut Invitational, April 8-9 at Pensacola Country Club.
