UWF Men’s Tennis Begins Season at No. 6 Nationally

Season Opens on Feb. 8 with Home Conference Matchup vs. Montevallo

COMPLETE ITA PRESEASON TOP 25

PHOENIX, Ariz. - UWF men's tennis is one step closer to the first serve of the 2025 season, with a preseason national team ranking of No. 6 with the release of the ITA Division II Men's Preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll on Wednesday.

Coming off a 2024 GSC regular season championship and a fall that saw Diego Duran and Sebastian Rondon win the ITA South Regional Doubles Championship and come in No. 2 overall in the preseason ITA Men's National Doubles Rankings, the Argos are one of 11 squads from the South and Southeast Regions in the preseason top 15 and 13 in the overall top 25. (Southeast Region members that are in the same state as or in contiguous states to a school are considered in-region contests by the NCAA. For UWF, that includes Flagler, Columbus State and North Georgia of the Southeast Region's Peach Belt Conference.) UWF is set to play six of the ranked regional opponents at least once: No. 2 Flagler, No. 1 Valdosta State, No. 13 North Georgia, No. 5 Columbus State, No. 18 Mississippi College and No. 13 Florida Southern.

Six days after the season and conference opener at home on February 8 versus Montevallo, the Argos take on the preseason second-ranked and defending national runner-up Saints in the First Round of the ITA DII National Men's Team Indoor Championship in Indianapolis. After wrapping up the yearly event that features the Nos. 2-8 preseason ranked teams and host No. 12 UIndy, UWF heads to Memphis for a nonconference neutral site contest against Southern Arkansas and its second GSC contest against Christian Brothers before making the short drive to Cleveland, Miss., to take on Delta State. After participating in the GSC/Lonestar Crossover Tournament hosted by UT Tyler that weekend for the second straight season, the Argos will travel for a March 7 contest at top-ranked and defending national champion Valdosta State as well as a regional neutral-site contest versus Lynn. As with last season, this matchup could very well decide the top GSC finisher heading into the GSC Championship.

After GSC contests against West Alabama and at Lee, on March 16 and 19, the Argos take on North Georgia in Dahlonega before hosting Columbus State in a pair of nonconference matchups with huge regional stakes. Ten days later, UWF will host the No. 18 Choctaws, who knocked the Argos out of the GSC Championship last year in the semifinals, before heading on the road to take on another contender in Auburn Montgomery. After its final home regular season contest of the year against perennial NAIA power Georgia Gwinnett, UWF will head back to Valdosta for another big South Region contest against the No. 13 Mocs on April 11, a week before it wraps up the regular season at D1 New Orleans. The GSC Championship is set to follow from April 24-26 in Montgomery, Ala.
