HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Announced by the Gulf South Conference Friday afternoon,
Olof Thorvaldsdottir is named Conference Offensive Player of the Year,
Jillian Thompson is named Conference Defensive Player of the Year, and head coach
Joe Bartlinski was voted as Coach of the Year.
Thorvaldsdottir has been a leader for the Argos in many ways during her first year. She leads UWF in goals (10), assists (6), and points (26). She has started in all 17 games this season and scored four game-winning goals. Thorvaldsdottir leads the GSC in points and is third for goals. She was the GSC Player of the Week on Sept. 9.
This is the program's fourth GSC Player of the Year award in a row.
Jillian Thompson has been effective across the whole field for UWF. She consistently has good headers to clear the ball and regain control for the Argos. She has scored three goals and taken 23 shots, with 12 on target. She has started in 14 games and played 1,167 minutes. She has matched up against some of the best forwards in the conference and helped keep UWF 15-0-2.
Head coach
Joe Bartlinski grabbed his fourth consecutive, eleventh overall GSC Coach of the Year award. He led the 2025 Argos to a GSC Regular Season title on a 15-0-2 overall record and an 11-0-1 conference record. His eleven awards lead the conference, which dates back to 1996.

UWF ALL-GSC Second Team Selections
Alexis Castle
Okoroafo has been a key component of the Argos' 15-0-2 season. She has recorded 15 wins, eight shutouts, and 1,430 minutes. She was the GSC Goalkeeper of the week on Sept. 16. She has only allowed six goals out of the 94 goals faced this season. She continues to prove herself in goal and is a large reason for the Argos' success.
Peterson has been a key defender for the Argos. She has scored one goal this season in the game opener against Flagler. Peterson has started in all 17 games of the regular season. She's taken five shots with four on frame.
Swinton has scored four goals, recorded three assists, and taken 47 shots, 22 of which were on goal. Swinton has started 16 games and had one game-winner. She continues to lead the Argos to a 15-0-2 season. She has been on the All-GSC First Team in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Wallace has proven to be an asset to the Argos offense. She has scored six goals, three of which were game winners. She has played in all 17 games and started six games. She has the second-highest number of goals on the team. She is also fifth in the GSC with six goals.
Castle continues to be an impressive midfielder for UWF. She has scored five goals, started all 17 games, and had 17 shots with 14 on goal. Castle has had two game-winning goals this season, too. She scored her first two goals as an Argo in an out-of-conference match against Lynn. This earned her GSC Player of the Week (Sept. 16).
