BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of West Florida women's golf head coach
Kristen Dorsey was named the Gulf South Conference Coach of the Year and three players earned all-conference honors as announced by the GSC on Monday afternoon.
Alia Scotka and
Millie Thompson were named to First Team All-GSC and
Isabela Urruchua was named to the Second Team All-GSC.
Scotka makes the all-conference list for the fourth time in her UWF career. The senior gained first team honors for three straight seasons. Scotka is ranked No. 33 nationally in Division II and the No. 20 ranked women's golfer in the region, boasting a 72.8 scoring average this season. She finished tied for fourth at the GSC Championship.
Thompson was a second-team recipient last season and earned first-team honors this season after two top-3 finishes in tournaments this season. The junior was third overall at the GSC Championship. Thompson ranks at No. 26 in the region and No. 46 nationally with a 73.5 scoring average.
Urruchua was a major addition for the Argos this season coming in as a freshman. Urruchua placed eighth at the GSC Championship and had a 76.7 scoring average.
Dorsey has now led the Argos to two straight GSC titles. This year's Coach of the Year was the third of Dorsey's career.
