Argos Finish GSC/Lonestar Crossover Tournament 3-0

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TYLER, Texas — The No. 2 University of West Florida men's tennis team (7-1) capped off a dominant weekend at the GSC/Lone Star Crossover Tournament with a pair of victories, defeating Cameron 5-2 on Saturday before earning a 6-1 win over Midwestern State on Sunday.
 
The Argonauts went a perfect 3-0 over the weekend, closing the crossover with strong singles play and clutch performances in key moments.
 
Saturday: West Florida 5, Cameron 2
West Florida bounced back from dropping the doubles point to Cameron, responding with five singles victories to secure the 5-2 win.
 
After Cameron claimed two of the three doubles courts, UWF quickly shifted momentum in singles. Sebastian Rondon delivered a three-set win at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, while Diego Duran battled back after dropping the first set to win 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2.
 
Mateo Martinez earned a straight-sets victory at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-2, and Vicente Couto dominated at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-0 decision. Goncalo Quintela sealed the match with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles as the Argonauts swept five of six singles courts.
 
Sunday: West Florida 6, Midwestern State 1
West Florida carried that momentum into Sunday's neutral-site matchup against Midwestern State (4-3), securing the doubles point and winning five singles matches in a 6-1 victory.
 
The Argonauts claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Rondon and Duran defeated No. 11 Juan Duque and Bruno Sanchez, 6-3, while Rafael Sabio and Goncalo Quintela clinched the point with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
 
In singles, Duran put UWF in front early with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2. After Midwestern State picked up a point at No. 3, Martinez answered with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 4.
 
Rondon earned one of the marquee wins of the weekend at No. 1 singles, rallying past No. 7 Germano Setti in three sets, 6-7(7), 6-3, 6-3. Couto clinched the match at No. 5 with a tight 6-3, 2-6, 1-0(10-8) victory, and Samuel Vidales added the final point with a straight-sets win at No. 6.

The Argos will remain on the road on Friday as they travel to Montevallo. The match is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. Live stats will be available on GoArgos.com.
