DICKSON, Tenn. – Millie Thompson won the Gulf South Conference individual title on Wednesday afternoon at the GSC Championship, winning by two strokes at four over par (220 stroke total). The Argos finished in second place falling to Lee by just one stroke.

Thompson got her second straight first place finish in a tournament after tying for first at the CSU Lady Cougar Classic at the end of March. The senior started strong with a 70 (-2) in the first round followed by a pair of 75's (+3) in rounds two and three. Thompson ranked first in par 4s for the tournament shooting just two over between all three rounds. Scoring was at a premium with Thompson producing just five birdies over the course of the tournament. In round two, Thompson birdied hole No. 10 which was her last birdie of the tournament, but the Gillingham, England native was able to manage the course the rest of the way to hold her first place lead.

As a team the Argos couldn't fend off Lee who made the comeback in the final round after trailing by 11 strokes.

Following round one UWF gained a large advantage over the rest of the field with a 14-stroke lead. The team lost its footing in the second round with a 312 (+24) but was still well in the lead heading into the final round. In round three the Argos shot +14 while Lee had their best day of the tournament at +2.

Isabela Urruchua and Samantha Schultz both had a top 10 finish tying for eighth overall at 11-over par.

West Florida will now turn their attention to the NCAA DII South Region Championship beginning on May 4 at Cleveland Country Club in Cleveland, Tenn.
