GREENSBORO, NC. – Three University of West Florida baseball standouts were named to the 2026 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-South Region Team, the association announced Wednesday.
Zack Stokes and
Micky Scheetz earned First Team All-South Region honors, while
William Lybrook was named to the Second Team. Stokes was also named the ABCA/Rawlings South Region Position Player of the Year.
Stokes capped off an elite offensive season by leading the Argonauts in batting average, hits, runs, doubles, home runs, total bases, walks, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. The outfielder started all 59 games for UWF, batting .447 with 97 hits, 76 runs, 25 doubles, 14 home runs, 45 RBI, 164 total bases, a .756 slugging percentage and a .552 on-base percentage. He also added 10 stolen bases and posted a .994 fielding percentage in the outfield. He adds to his incredibly decorated resume which also includes NCBWA All-American second team, NCBWA South Region Player of the Year, NCBWA All-South Region First team, D2CCA All-South Region Player of the Year, D2CCA All-South Region First Team, Gulf South Conference Player of the Year, and All-GSC First Team honors.
Scheetz earns First Team All-South Region honors after anchoring the back end of the UWF bullpen throughout the season. The senior left-hander appeared in 31 games, posting a 3-2 record with a 1.53 ERA and 16 saves across 47 innings pitched. Scheetz struck out 46 batters while allowing just eight earned runs and no home runs. He was awarded NCBWA All-America First Team, D2CCA All-South Region First Team, NCBWA All-South Region First Team, and All-GSC First Team honors.
Lybrook was named Second Team All-South Region at catcher after putting together a strong season at the plate and behind it. The graduate catcher started 57 games for the Argonauts, batting .372 with 67 hits, 36 runs, 11 doubles, two triples, five home runs and 38 RBI. Lybrook also reached base at a .491 clip, slugged .539 and finished with a .984 fielding percentage behind the plate. He was named to the D2CCA All-South Region Second Team, NWACB All-South Region Second Team, and All-GSC First Team.
As a team, West Florida closed the season with a 43-16 overall record, including a 21-12 mark in Gulf South Conference play. The Argonauts hit .309 as a team while holding opponents to a .261 batting average and finished the year with a 3.97 team ERA. UWF won the NCAA South Region #1 and hosted the NCAA South Super Regional.
