FULL D2CCA ALL-SOUTH REGION TEAMS
 
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – University of West Florida designated player Kathleen Smiley earned her second All-South Region honor in the last week on Monday, taking a spot on the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) softball all-region team. Smiley is the 16th D2CCA/Daktronics all-region selection in UWF history.
 
With another four home runs this season, Smiley moved into 12th place on UWF's career home runs leaderboard with 16 and she is UWF's active career leader with 105 RBIs. The junior from Pensacola is also second among active Argonauts with a .319 batting average (minimum two seasons played), a .418 on-base percentage, a .505 slugging percentage, and 60 walks.
 
The Pensacola, Florida, native was particularly strong against Gulf South Conference pitching this season, batting .369, slugging .600, and posting a team-best .528 on-base percentage in league play that was good for third in the conference. Her 21 walks in GSC action were also the second-most in the league.
 
Smiley ended the season with four multi-RBI games and six multi-hit games, one of which came against North Alabama on Thursday's NCAA Tournament First Round game.
 
Student-athletes from the Gulf South Conference made up 17 of the 28 spots across the first and second teams.
 
The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
