PENSACOLA, Fla. – West Florida women's basketball standout
Katie Bobos was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for District 5 as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday.
Bobos is a junior from Lowell, Ind. and carries a 3.88 grade point average in biology with a pre-med concentration.
She has started all 21 games at forward and ranks first on the team with 13.5 points per game and is second with 7.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest. She is also one of only three players in Gulf South Conference to rank in the top 10 scoring and rebounding
Bobos currently ranks 17th all-time at UWF in scoring and is sixth all-time in rebounds. She was named to the 2014-15 GSC All-Academic Team and is a 2-time GSC Academic Honor Roll member.
Bobos was one of seven student-athletes chosen in the district, which includes nominees from all three conferences in the region – the GSC, Southern Intercollegiate and Sunshine State. Se will now advance onto the Division 2 national ballot, with first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees announced in the coming weeks.
To be eligible, students have to carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average, be an important starter or reserve who has competed in at least 50 percent of that season's games and spent at least one calendar year at their current institution.
