UWF Volleyball Announced as the No. 1 Seed for the South Region Tournament

The Argonauts will now host the 2021 NCAA South Regional Tournament at the UWF Field House from Dec. 2-4

INDIANAPOLIS, In. – After taking home the 2021 Gulf South Conference Tournament Championship on Sunday, the University of West Florida Volleyball team received some more good news Monday as they are named the No. 1 seed for the upcoming NCAA South Regional Tournament.

This top seeding marks the first time in program history in which the Argonauts have earned the top spot within the South Region and means West Florida will now host the upcoming South Regional Tournament right here in Pensacola, Florida.

In addition to this being the first time the Argonauts have ever hosted the South Regional, this year's tournament will also mark the 15th consecutive season in which West Florida has reached the NCAA Tournament which dates back to the 2006 season.

Spanning from Dec. 2-4, this year's field of teams will feature top-seeded West Florida (1), Tampa (2), Nova Southeastern (3), Embry-Riddle (Fla.) (4), Lynn (5), Alabama Huntsville (6), Palm Beach Atlantic (7), and Spring Hill (8).

Not only coming in as the top seed in the region, West Florida will also be the highest nationally ranked team in the region coming in as the No. 5 ranked team in the nation just above No. 9 Tampa and No. 21 Nova Southeastern.

Following a traditional bracket style, the Argonauts will be set to take on the No. 8 seeded Spring Hill Badgers on the first day of competition while Tampa takes on Palm Beach Atlantic, Nova Southeastern takes on Alabama Huntsville, and Embry Riddle takes on Lynn.

All of the matches for this South Regional Tournament will be live-streamed through GoArgos.com while live stats will also be available if preferred.
