The Argonauts will play 27 games at home this season

2023 UWF BASEBALL SCHEDULE

PENSACOLA, Fla.
 – UWF head baseball coach Mike Jeffcoat announced a 47-game schedule for the 2023 spring season on Tuesday. The slate includes 27 home games at Jim Spooner Field with 22 of those on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Gulf South Conference home opponents include Auburn Montgomery, Delta State, Mississippi College, Montevallo and West Alabama, with non-conference foes Columbus State, Florida Tech, North Georgia, Rollins and Spring Hill on the schedule.

The Argonauts will be on the road when they face Alabama Huntsville, Florida Southern, Shorter, Spring Hill, Union, Valdosta State and West Georgia.

"This year's schedule will be challenging as always with our 30-game conference schedule, as well as playing three Sunshine State teams the first three weekends to start the season before conference play begins," Jeffcoat said. "We also have two mid-week home series in mid-March against perennial Peach Belt Conference powers North Georgia and Columbus State. Having a few extra home games will be great for our fans and players to hopefully take advantage of playing at The Spoon."

After opening the season with a 3-game set at FSC, UWF will have a 7-game homestand against Rollins, Spring Hill and Florida Tech. That stretch will open a period where the Argos play 17 of 24 at home from February 10-March 22.

UWF will host three of the top four teams from last year's GSC standings, including defending champion Delta State March 3-4. The Argos will celebrate Senior Weekend April 21-22 when West Alabama comes to Pensacola. Six of the seven home weekends are scheduled to have a single game on Friday and a doubleheader on Saturday. UWF will face 10 league opponents during the season, missing Lee and Christian Brothers in the rotation this season.

"I think our conference will be very competitive with a lot of parity around the league," Jeffcoat added. "Regardless of who we play, we have to bring our best to accomplish the goals we've set."

UWF has eight midweek games on the schedule with six of those at home. They will play Spring Hill twice at home and twice in Mobile, while hosting North Georgia and Columbus State in mid-March.

UWF went 22-24 a year ago and finished seventh in the conference at 15-14. The Argos return eight position starters and two pitchers, including all-GSC shortstop Trent Jeffcoat who hit .371 from the leadoff spot with seven doubles, 24 RBI and 21 steals.

Mike Jeffcoat enters his 18th season at UWF where he is 562-310 with eight NCAA Regional appearances, including the 2011 national championship.

Ticket prices for home games range from $5-10 and UWF students are admitted for free with their Nautilus card.
