UWF Finishes Fifth at GSC Championships

Argonauts head to NCAA South Region Championship next

RESULTS
 
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of West Florida women's cross country team finished fifth on Saturday in the 5K at the Gulf South Conference Championships in Montevallo. 
 
As usual, UWF ran in a tight pack at the front. Sophia Spalding finished 23rd overall with a 19:21.6, which was 35 seconds faster than her time at the meet last season. 
 
Leah Fenton ran a 19:54.50, which is right in line with her time from the 2021 meet, and freshman Chloe Rook clocked a 20:11.60. 
 
Fellow freshman Ava Baldauf (20:30.10) and Skylar Grant (20:38.80) finished close together, at 48th and 51st overall.
 
Julia Alvarez Drago clocked a 21:15.60 and was followed closely by Julianne Dennison, at 21:27.30.
 
Kristen Bouington, at 22:19.60, and Avery Miller, at 25:10.80, rounded out the lineup. 
 
Lee won the meet, followed by Mississippi College and Alabama Huntsville. 
 
UWF will compete at the NCAA South Region Championships on November 19 in Lakeland, Florida.
