UWF Women’s Cross Country Jumps Four Spots in USTFCCCA Week 1 Regional Rankings

Argos now 5th in South Region Rankings after UNA Invitational Performance

NEW ORLEANS, La. –  The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released their regional rankings for all eight regions competing in DII women's cross country Tuesday, with the West Florida Argonauts making a big jump in the south region rankings after week one.
 
The Argos came in at fifth in the region, moving up four spots from their previous preseason ranking released two weeks ago. They had an impressive showing at the UNA invitational on Sep. 7, placing as the top DII school at the meet in the women's 5K. Four women's runners set personal records an Chloe Rook placed fourth overall in a field of 72. 
 
The Argos are the second highest ranked GSC team in the region, with Lee ranked first overall. Behind UWF is Mississippi College, UAH, and Montevallo. Tampa, Nova Southeastern, and Florida Southern out of the Sunshine State Conference round out the teams just ahead of the Argos in the rankings. 
 
The Argos return home for the annual Argonaut Invitational on Friday, Sep. 20 at the UWF Cross Country Course. More info for the Argonaut invitational available on the 2024 Argonaut Invitational tab on the men's and women's cross country pages on GoArgos.com.
