TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – UWF Women's Cross Country had yet another strong team showing, this time against a field of high competition in the women's 6K at the FSU XC Invitational.
The field featured multiple top D1 teams, including Georgia, LSU, Miami, Samford, South Florida and the hosting Florida State Seminoles. The Argos finished 14
th out of the 39 teams and finished as the third-highest DII team after regionally ranked Tampa and Nova Southeastern.
The Argos finished ahead of DI teams in Bethune-Cookman, South Florida, Jacksonville, Stetson, and Alabama State. They also placed ahead of regionally ranked Flagler, and other south region teams in Auburn Montgomery, Valdosta State, and Barry.
"We had a couple goals for this one. Be competitive with the other D2 schools and continue to run in tight groups. Beating Flagler, was great but we lost to couple regional opponents in Tampa and Nova. We will hopefully learn from this one and make up the gap at conference and regionals." head coach
Caleb Carmichael said.
Jessica Chappell was the top finisher for the Argos for the second time this season, placing 50
th out of 362 runners with a time of 22:40.9 and running the sixth fastest 6K time in program history.
Elyse Carmichael followed up her impressive program record set last weekend with the 9
th fastest time in program history, placing 60
thon a 22:55.5 time. The 2025 UWF women's cross country team now has current players with five of the top 10 fastest times in program history.
Chloe Rook placed 114
th with a 23:29.4 time.
Madison Sims and
Sydney Orth finished 145 and 146 respectively with times of 24:10.4 and 24:12.0.
Sierra Howard and Gwen Shamel finished in a close grouping as well, with Howard finishing 173
rd on a 24:41.4 time and Gwen Shamel finishing 177 on a 24:43.5 time.
Kristen Bouington ran a 24:53.2 time to place 183
rd.
Julia Alvarez Drago placed 199
th on a 25:09.3 time.
Olivia Noack finished 257
thwith a 26:21.3 time.
Ambrea Hobbs completed the day for the Argos in Tallahassee placing 297
th with a 28:17 final.
