PENSACOLA, Fla. —
Sebastian Rondon has been named the GSC Player of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Rondon helped lead the No. 2 Argonauts to a strong showing at the GSC/Lone Star Conference Crossover in Tyler, Texas, as West Florida posted two wins against ranked competition and finished the weekend 3-0. The senior was a key contributor in both singles and doubles play throughout the weekend.
At the No. 1 singles position, Rondon earned a three-set victory over No. 5 UT Tyler's Artiom Dorofeev, winning 6-7, 6-0, 6-4 in a hard-fought match. He also delivered another comeback win against Cameron's Lukas Janousek, rallying for a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 victory to secure the point for the Argonauts.
In doubles competition, Rondon partnered with
Diego Duran to claim key victories at the top flight. The duo defeated UT Tyler's Daniil Felker and Carel Wessel 6-4 and also earned a 6-3 win over Midwestern State's Juan Duque and Bruno Sanchez to help West Florida capture the doubles point in both matches.
Rondon's performances were instrumental in West Florida's victories during the weekend tournament, including a 6-1 win over No. 24 Midwestern State,
a 4-3 win over UT Tyler
, and a 5-2 win over Cameron.
