PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its first full rankings of the spring season and the No. 2 ranked Argos for both men's and women's team had several student-athletes make the rankings list.
In men's singles, UWF has three players listed with two ranking in the top five.
Diego Duran is ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division II and
Sebastian Rondon is ranked No. 5.
Mateo Martinez earned a No. 44 ranking. Duran is 14-3 this season with 57.92 points in the rankings. Rondon is 10-3 with 45.15 points and Martinez is 5-2 with 9.70 points.
In men's doubles the duo of Duran and Rondon are ranked No. 3 in the country with a 13-3 overall record. At the No. 22 ranking is
Rafael Sabio and
Goncalo Quintela who are 4-0.
On the women's side, there are two players ranked in the top 50 for singles play. Leading the way is
Carlota Verdu at No. 4 with a 10-5 record and 55.41 points.
Sandra Recuenco holds down the No. 46 spot at 8-3 this season and 9.13 points. Verdu and Recuenco also earned a doubles team ranking. The duo is ranked No. 22 in the ITA.
The Argos are coming off a successful three game trip against opponents in Texas. Both teams finished 3-0 on the road trip. Next up, UWF will travel to Montevallo for a GSC matchup on Friday at 10 a.m.
