NORMAN, Okla. – No. 1 UWF Men's Golf Coach Steve Fell has been named a finalist for the 2026 NCAA Division II Dave Williams Coach of the Year Award presented by Golf Pride Grips, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Tuesday morning.

Fell, along with four other coaches, were named finalists for their leadership and accomplishments with their teams during the 2025-2026 DII Men's Golf Season. It is Fell's second-straight year being a finalist for the award. He has gone on to win the award three times, in 2001, 2008, and 2017.

Under Fell's 31st season of coaching, UWF Men's Golf has been the No. 1 team in the country for a majority of the season and placed first in six different tournaments. They excelled in the Gulf South Conference Tournament, where they won a GSC title for the fourth-straight year.

The Argos earned the No. 1 seed in the South Region and placed second in the NCAA South Region tournament, qualifying for NCAA Nationals with a chance to defend their 2025 National Championship. They are currently on day 2 of stroke play at the National Championship, located at the Boulder Creek Golf Course in Boulder City, Nev.
