VALDOSTA, Ga. – The No. 1 ranked UWF men's golf team completed its first round of the NCAA DII South/Southeast Regional on Thursday at Valdosta Country Club battling through rainy conditions and weather delays.
The Argos are currently in third place at seven under par, but nearly half the field was unable to complete all 18 holes due to the weather.
The top four players for UWF were all under par through the first nine holes as the Argos started strong. The rain delay midway through the round cooled the team off and slowed down the scoring opportunities causing the Argos to drop back from first place to third place.
Cooper Tendick led West Florida and is currently tied for the lead in the tournament at five under. The senior recorded just one bogey along with six birdies on the day.
TJ Thompson was three under through nine holes and began the back nine with an eagle on hole No. 10, but three consecutive bogeys on holes 13, 14, and 15 dropped him back to -2. Thompson sits tied for 12th overall.
Eddie Lee and
Max Page both shot even.
On Friday, teams who did not complete their first round will finish where they left off beginning at 7:30 a.m. All teams will then start the second round in a shotgun start format.
