BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of West Florida volleyball team had a record six student-athletes named to the 2015 All-Gulf South Conference Volleyball Team, it was announced Monday. This marks the first time in the history of the conference that six volleyball student-athletes from one team earned All-GSC honors in the same year.
Senior
Autumn Duyn (Venice, Fla./Venice HS) earns All-GSC First Team honors for the fourth time in her career, becoming the first player in program history and the seventh player in conference history to be earn first team all-conference honors four times. Duyn became the only player in UWF volleyball program history to rank in the top two in career digs (1,482) and career kills (1,339) this season. She ranks fifth in the GSC in kills per set (3.12) this season and ranks second on the team in digs per set (3.34).
Joining Duyn as All-GSC selections are
Monique StCyr (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown HS),
Tori Martella (Jacksonville, Fla./Providence HS),
Kathryn Torre (Highland, Ill./State College of Florida),
Cora Bidlack (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) and
Corisha Smith (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman HS).
StCyr earns All-GSC First Team honors for the first time in her career after leading the conference in service aces per set (0.52) this season. The sophomore setter ranks second in the GSC in assists per set (10.59) and is one of two student-athletes in the conference to compile 1,000 assists this season. StCyr also tallied 106 kills during the regular season and ranks third on the team in digs (256) and digs per set (2.51).
Martella also earns All-GSC First Team honors for the first time in her career after ranking second in the GSC in digs per set (4.89) this season. The junior is the only libero in the conference to amass over 500 digs on the year. Martella became one of seven players in the history of the program to reach the 1,000-career digs milestone this season and currently ranks fourth on the career digs list at UWF (1,184).
Torre earns All-GSC Second Team honors after leading the GSC in blocks (109) and blocks per set (1.09) this season. The junior also ended the regular season ranked fourth in the conference it attack percentage (.330) and ranks fourth on the team in kills (224).
Smith earns All-GSC Second Team honors after finishing the regular season ranked seventh in the conference in kills per set (2.94) and second on the team in total kills (259). The junior was effective from the service line this season as well tallying 21 service aces.
Bidlack earns her second career All-GSC Second Team nod after an impressive all-round junior campaign. The outside hitter ranks third on the squad in kills (247) and kills per set (2.49) and also ranks second on the team in total blocks (75).
