NCBWA DIVISION 2 PRESEASON POLL

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF baseball team is ranked tenth in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Preseason Top 25 Poll. Additionally, the Argonauts are second in the NCBWA South Region poll.
 
UWF went 37-11 in 2020 and hosted the NCAA South Regional as the number one seed. The preseason rank is the highest for the program since starting the 2014 season at No. 4 in the Collegiate Baseball poll. This is the highest NCBWA ranking to start the season in school history, matching the 2012 preseason listing.
 
Tampa was picked first with seven first place votes, followed by defending national champion Wingate with 10 votes. Central Missouri and Colorado Mesa also got one first place vote and are third and fourth, respectively with Angelo State in fifth.
 
UWF was previously announced at No. 27 in the Collegiate Baseball Preseason Top 25.
 
UWF senior first baseman Cullan O'Shea was voted onto the NCBWA Preseason All-South Region Team. Last season he hit .339 and led the team with 11 home runs, 55 runs, 17 doubles and a .620 slugging percentage. The Mobile, Alabama product is currently tied for eighth in UWF history with 14 homers and third with a .575 slugging pct.
 
The Argos have won 25 of their last 29 3-game series over the past three seasons.
 
UWF returns 14 letterwinners and eight starters for the 2022 campaign which begins on Friday, Feb. 4 with a 3-game home series against Florida Southern at Jim Spooner Field.
