Morgan Lemner Hired as Volleyball Assistant Coach

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida volleyball team has a new coach joining the sidelines. Head coach Melissa Wolter has announced the hiring of Morgan Lemner as the team's new assistant coach.

Lemner comes to West Florida after serving as the head coach for NCAA Division III Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich. Lemner has been the head coach there since Jan. 2024.

"I'm beyond excited to be joining the staff at UWF," Lemner said. "I want to thank Dave Scott and Meghan Barter for the opportunity to be a part of the program. I also want to thank head coach Melissa Wolter for believing in me to lead the program alongside her. I cannot wait to get things started this Fall and continue to build a championship culture!"

In her one season with the Hornets, Lemner led the volleyball team to its best start since 2013. The team started 4-0 and went on to produce its best statistical season in the past five years. Academically, the team boasted a 3.51 grade point average and had two Academic All-District student-athletes.

While at Kalamazoo, Lemner oversaw a staff of seven and a roster of 23 players.

Prior to her time in Michigan, Lemner spent two years at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. as a graduate assistant coach. During the 2022 season the team won the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship for the 13th time in program history.

In addition to college coaching, Lemner was the Director and Head Coach for the Wisconsin Juniors Volleyball Club from 2017-2024.

During her playing career, Lemner was a three-year starting libero and three-time captain for the Alverno College volleyball team. She also served in a student-athlete leadership position as the SAAC Vice President for the institution.

"I am extremely excited to have Morgan Lemner as our new full time assistant coach," said Wolter. "We went through a national search of almost 100 candidates and Morgan surfaced as the best of the best.  She is from the Midwest and prides herself in a strong work ethic and pride in everything she does.  She has a great mind for the game and is committed to helping our program get to the next level on the national stage.  Morgan's background was playing as a libero in college, and she will take on a lot of the pass and defense aspects of our training.  She's also got a lot of recruiting ties in areas we want to recruit from and she's very passionate about that part of the job.  She connected really well with our players and administrative staff during her interview and is extremely professional.  I'm thrilled to have her by my side as we head into a new era of UWF Volleyball."

The Argos finished last season with a 27-6 overall record and perfect 20-0 Gulf South Conference record on route to their seventh straight GSC title. The team advanced to the NCAA Division II South Regional.

Lemner began in her new role with UWF on June 4.
