After taking the program’s first NCAA national championship in 2004, the UWF men’s tennis team wasn’t done. The Argos were crowned back-to-back national titles after shutting down North Florida 5-0 in the title match.

Head coach Derrick Racine was named ITA/Wilson National Coach of the Year. This was his second national coach of the year honor in his career.

Multiple Argonauts were recognized for their talent. Senior Mario Vergara, was named ITA South Region Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship.

Leading the way was Paulius Jurkenas. He was named All-America in singles and grabbed an All-American honor in doubles with partner Vergara. Jurkenas became the seventh player in GSC men’s tennis history to earn four consecutive All-GSC selections and the first to have all four first team honors. He was anamed GSC Top Ten Award winner.

Being new to the collegiate level did not hold freshman Diego Zorzi back. He soared through his first season with UWF, going 18-3 in singles. He was named GSC Freshman of the Year and ITA South Region Rookie of the Year, while being ranked No. 2 nationally.
