UWF ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME - CLASS OF 2011-12
Veronica “Roni” McGinniss was one of the best defenders to ever wear
the green and blue for the UWF women’s soccer team. As the team’s captain, McGinniss led the Argonauts to the Gulf South Conference tournament all four years she was with the program. She helped lead the Argos to back-to-back GSC championships for the first time in program history in 1998-99, and she took the Argonauts to their first ever NCAA regional appearance in 1999 and again in 2001.
McGinniss was named to the All-GSC first team in 1999, 2000 and 2001, making her one of just three players with three All-GSC first team selections in program history. She was also named to the GSC All-Tournament Team in 1998 and again in 2001. In 2000, McGinniss was named the GSC Tournament Most Outstanding player, and she is the only player in program history to be named to the All-Region Team each of her four seasons with UWF.
