Bruno Savi was a tremendously impactful player for the West Florida men’s tennis team from 2011 to 2014. He was a 3-peat GSC Player of the Year in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and named ITA Singles and ITA Doubles All-American in 2012 and 2013. He was also honored as ITA’s Senior Player of the Year in 2014.
He was a part of the undefeated 2014 season. The team went 29-0 and took the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship. Individually, he went 24-0 at No. 1 singles and 6-0 in conference play. He was ranked the No. 1 player in the national ITA poll for the entire 2014 season. Savi and doubles partner Tony Rajaobelina finished the season with a 26-2 record where he was also ranked No. 1 in the nation.
Savi has stayed involved with the sport, creating his own tennis academy in Brazil called the Bruno Savi Tennis School. His role as a professional tennis coach is training his players to become great athletes in college and beyond while working with social tennis.
He and his wife Camila Savi have a three-year-old daughter named Estela.
“There were many great moments at UWF. We were very fortunate to create a group of high-level players who were also very good friends,” says Savi. “But the most important moment was winning in 2014 as a player, after hard seasons where we came close but couldn't make it. That led us to have an incredible season and become national champions in 2014 with a record of 29-0. I also had the opportunity to win the title as a coach in 2017, and I was lucky to have a great staff to work with. I thank Coach Racine for giving me the opportunity to start my coaching career.”
“I would like to thank all the directors and coaches I had the pleasure of working with during my time at UWF. It was a wonderful period in my life, and today I feel very happy to be working with children who will have the same opportunity I had in the future. I hope they all have the good fortune to find a place as special as UWF was for me. Thanks, UWF! Let’s go ARGOS!!”
