Â
There’s something special when you are the first to do something with a team and Luciana Rapach can say just that. As one of the standouts who took a chance on a young UWF program in the early to mid 2000s, Rapach exploded onto the GSC scene in 2007 by winning the East Division Player of the year and was a 3-time Defensive Player of the Week honoree.
Â
She finished the season as a Third Team All-America, becoming the first in the program’s first eight years. She had 394 kills and her 457 digs that year were second in the UWF record book.
Â
A Second Team All-America plaque followed as a senior in 2008 where she GSC Championship Most Outstanding Player and Team MVP. She led the team to its first regional final and finished the year with 318 kills, 355 digs, 136 assists, 65 blocks and 21 service aces. She truly did a little bit of everything on that team.
Â
During the season she set the single-match digs record with 30 against Lynn and had a triple double against Mobile.
Â
UWF’s second and third trips to the NCAA Regionals came during her two years on campus and the program hasn’t stopped, extending the streak to 16 currently.
