Misty Haynes brought national attention to the UWF Softball Program with her numerous athletic achievements from 1990 to 1994. A standout athlete from Pensacola’s Escambia High School, Haynes earned three All-American and numerous All-District and All-Region honors. She played left field and held 27 school records. She received the Northwest Florida High School Player of the Year award in 1989 and qualified three times for NAIA All-American status. In 1992, she qualified for the NAIA Second Team All-American and was also a Medical Redshirt that year. Haynes also qualified for the First Team NAIA All-American and NSCA All-American in 1993. She batted a .324 with 24 stolen bases in 1990 and was also the leadoff batter. She led the team with seven triples, 71 runs, five homeruns and 118 stolen bases. In 1993, she played on the NAIA National Championship Team, earning number one ranking and received the All-District 27 selection three times. Haynes was also a member of the Olympic Sports Festival Team and named All-Tournament in the UWF Invitational. Since her time at UWF, her number 23 has been retired.
