Hochman proved himself as an outstanding competitor, winning 24 matches out of 29. He posted as a 90 National Quarter Finalist with Geoff Watts in doubles and in 1988, made NAIA All-America Honorable Mention Singles. By 1990, he made the NAIA All-America First Team Doubles and won the Arthur Ashe Sportsmanship Award. In 1991, Hochman made the NAIA All-America First Team Singles and posted as the ITA/NAIA Senior Player of the Year. With doubles partner, Geoff Watts, he won the NAIA National Champion Doubles. Also in 1991, he posted as the All-Time National Rolex Singles Champion.
