Peter Dyson competed on the Men’s Golf team from 1985 to 1987. He was named the Most Valuable Male Athlete from 1985 to 1986. He also won the honor for having the lowest stroke average for the year in 1986 (71.6) on the golf team that placed third in the NAIA Nationals. Dyson also won the Southern Juniors title and the American Amateur Classic and in 1986 to earn a spot in the Pensacola Open, where he carded a 143 for two rounds. Also in 1986, he finished ninth out of 90 players at the Tampa Winter Intercollegiate Golf tournament with a score of 233.

At the NAIA National Finals, he made the NAIA All-American Team after finishing fifth individually and eighth overall with a four-day total of 292.
