Laura Cadena Waldon competed as an outstanding performer on the Women’s Tennis team from 1987 to 1989. Waldon was ranked number one in the Women’s 25 in Southern Region in 1985 and was ranked third in the Women’s 35 in Southern Region in 1986. She represented Alabama in the Southern Senior Cup and won the Women’s Team Division in 1996, finishing fourth in 1987.

By 1988, Waldon became the NAIA Doubles Champion with Bronna Allison and made both the Singles and Doubles All-American teams. She graduated in 1988 with a B.S. in Health Leisure Science and in 1990 with a M.S. in Recreation and Park Administration. In 1992, she won the Pensacola City Championship and by 1983, she was ranked number 12 in Mexico.
